Listen up, those of you with a PlayStation 5! Western Digital and Sony have joined forces to launch the gaming industry’s first official PlayStation-licensed M.2 SSD for Sony’s PlayStation 5 to gamers across the globe.

The WD_BLACKTM SN850 NVMe SSD has been designed for PS5 consoles and enables players to expand the high-speed storage capacity of their PS5, which means they can store their games on a drive that’s been extensively tested to take on the most intensive PS5 gameplay.

The new SN850 has been optimized for the PS5. Western Digital has validated its performance for several scenarios to ensure it performs in line with the PS5. The testing process included hundreds of hours of rigorous testing of the most graphic-rich titles across various genres to ensure that the resulting gameplay is fast, smooth and visually immersive with games stored on the drive.

With the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD for PS5, gamers can keep and play both PS5 and PS4 games directly from the drive. The SSD has a heatsink that makes installation quicker thanks to its all-in-one design. In addition, gamers can cut down on long load times with PCIe Gen4 technology, reaching read speeds up to 7000MB/s.

Pricing & Availability: The WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD for PS5 retails in the UK for £179.99 (1TB3) and £289.99 (2TB3) and is now available from the Western Digital online store. It will be available from other retailers, etailers and resellers starting mid-August 2022.
