Even the most confident professionals have days where they might be feeling a little low or down on their game. Whether you wake up feeling on top of the world or a little less than confident, it’s helpful to have a daily affirmation to remind yourself how special and important you really are.

Affirmations can be incredibly useful for building confidence and self-esteem. Below, 12 members of Young Entrepreneur Council share their favorite daily affirmations and discuss how they might help other professionals’ attitudes or mindsets at work.

1. ‘My Only Competition Is Myself’

One of my favorite quotes that has gone on to become an affirmation is, “My only competition is myself.” A business requires you to outperform yourself every single day. The goal shouldn’t be to be better than your competition, as you are in no way alike. You should move your mindset to perform better than you did yesterday to see abundant progress compounding over time, leading to success. – Candice Georgiadis, Digital Day

2. ‘I Am Great, I Am Successful And I Am Grateful’

Daily affirmation is so powerful that it dictates how your day is going to be. If a person thinks, speaks and acts positively, then that person will have a very positive outlook throughout the day. For me, my confidence goes through the roof when I affirm these words: “I am great, I am successful and I am grateful.” State these words seven times in the morning and see how it changes your perspective. – Fritz Colcol, Simply Thalia

3. ‘It Will Be What It Will Be’

I think one of the best affirmations you can tell yourself is, “It will be what it will be.” Whether it’s a new launch or whether you’re pitching something to a different business, it will be what it will be. You have to release everything that’s out of your control; otherwise, you’ll drive yourself insane. You can only do what you’re capable of. Stretching yourself too thin is a recipe for burnout. – Nick Venditti, StitchGolf

4. ‘I Am Doing The Best I Can’

As we navigate the business world post-pandemic, so many things have changed, and we cannot look back on pre-2020 data for trends and insights. The world is different, and we can only do the best we can. I remind myself that strategy, the right people, cash and execution are the foundations of the daily habits I establish, and each day, I will do the best I can. – Givelle Lamano, Lamano Law Office

5. ‘Every Step Counts’

“Every step counts” is a powerful mantra or affirmation that I rely on to keep me going. When we work on long-term and large-scale projects, it’s easy to lose sight of the outcomes. Remembering that small changes and refinements are key to change helps me keep making small improvements. I feel more patient and willing to see work through in the future. – Syed Balkhi, WPBeginner

6. ‘Trust The Process’

“Trust the process” is a good daily affirmation. It is easy to overestimate how good things are when they are going well and how badly things are going when they aren’t. By trusting the process and sticking to the plan, you can weather anything that comes your way. – Josh Weiss, Reggie

7. ‘Remember Where You Started’

Always remember where you started and how desperate you were to reach where you are and where you want to go. When we are in the midst of our business or career, we tend to forget how desperately we wanted it, and any setback makes us want to go farther back than when we started. Every morning, I envision myself having achieved where I want to be and reflect on where I started from. – Kripa Shroff, AK Multinational LLC

8. ‘We Can Accomplish Anything’

If you want to build your confidence, repeat this: “With my team by my side, we can accomplish anything.” I believe we need this affirmation because it’s easy to feel lonely and full of self-doubt when you have your nose to the ground on a big project. Reminding yourself that there’s a team of people who believe in you and your vision could give you the boost you need. – John Brackett, Smash Balloon LLC

9. ‘Solutions Will Come’

Solutions to problems always emerge. Forcing solutions makes a mess. It is almost like a law of nature. When you force things, they turn out worse or you have to redo the work. Sit in silence, go to another task, commit an action toward a solution and just wait. It will come to you. – Matthew Capala, Alphametic

10. ‘Problems Are Opportunities For Improvement’

A powerful affirmation would be, “I am open to seeing problems as opportunities for improvement.” As an entrepreneur, everyone looks to you to have all the answers. Seeing problems as opportunities to improve allows you to see the situation from many angles and come to the best conclusion for finding a solution. – Mary Harcourt, CosmoGlo

11. ‘I Believe In My Ability To Accomplish My Goals’

One affirmative thought to say to yourself is: “I believe in my ability to accomplish my goals.” As an entrepreneur, it’s extremely important for you to create a positive thinking pattern involving positive affirmations. This will help you take on your challenges with a positive attitude and continue working toward achieving your goals. – Thomas Griffin, OptinMonster

12. ‘I’m Great At What I Do And I Know My Stuff’

Tell yourself, “I’m great at what I do, and I know my stuff.” Business is so competitive that it can be easy to doubt yourself, your knowledge and your abilities. Don’t give in to that temptation. When you’re feeling unsure of yourself, repeat this affirmation. Write it down and paste it on your wall or put it in your desk drawer and pull it out when you need a reminder. – Jonathan Prichard, MattressInsider.com
