Classic British speaker brand Bowers & Wilkins has just announced its latest pair of noise-canceling headphones. The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 are built around an all-new acoustic platform designed to deliver high-resolution sound through new custom-designed 40mm drive units developed especially for headphone listening.

The new Bowers & Wilkins drivers have an ultra-fast response time for reproducing every nuance in a piece of music with low distortion. Bowers & Wilkins claim the result is a more accurate and higher-resolution presentation. The drivers are also carefully angled inside each earcup to ensure a consistent distance relative to the listener’s ear from every point across the surface of each driver for a more natural and immersive soundstage.

Alongside the new drivers, Bowers & Wilkins has used Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive wireless technology to optimize the audio transmission from compatible phones, tablets and computers. Coupled with Bowers & Wilkins’ DSP (Digital Signal Processing), the company claims the result is outstanding 24-bit high-resolution sound from suitable streaming services. As well as wireless transmission, the headphones can be used with USB-C and 3.5mm cable connections and both cable types are included with the headphones.

The engineers at Bowers & Wilkins have refined the Px7 S2’s performance by developing new noise-cancellation technology to effectively shut out unwanted noise without degrading the music. Six high-performance microphones work to deliver the best noise-canceling performance.

Two mics measure the output of each drive unit, two react to ambient noise from the outside world, while two are used to pick up the user’s voice with enhanced noise suppression. Careful positioning and angling of the microphones enhances the performance of the headphones even in the noisiest environments.

The Px7 S2 are the first headphones to work directly with the Bowers & Wilkins Music app. The app can be used to pair Px7 S2 to a mobile device, fine-tune the sound through adjustable EQ, activate or disengage the noise-canceling transparency mode to let in more or less of the outside world. The app also monitors the headphone’s charge levels and, in a future upgrade, it will have the ability to stream their chosen music directly from their mobile device to their Px7 S2s.

Physical controls on each earcup ensure full control even without the app. Users can also seamlessly launch their phone’s Voice Assistant at the touch of a button. And with 30 hours of battery life, Px7 S2 can play all day and more on a single charge, while a 15-minute burst charge provided up to seven hours of extra listening time.

The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 will be available in three finishes: grey, blue and black. The all-new construction and profile has been designed for comfortable and extended listening sessions thanks to a slimmer overall shape, lighter weight and more luxurious earpads with improved memory foam to cushion the listener’s ears.

Pricing & Availability: The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 will go on sale from 29th June for $399 £379 / €429.
