Headphone brand Audeze has announced a brand-new ultra-low-latency gaming headset designed for use with PCs and gaming consoles like the Xbox and Playstation. The new headset is called Maxwell and offers an impressive 80+ hours of battery life. Maxwell will be available in two versions for Xbox and Playstation.

Microsoft officially licensed Maxwell for PC and Xbox and includes the first auto-activating Dolby Atmos license. Maxwell for Playstation and PC supports Tempest 3D Audio.

Maxwell is the latest product in the Audeze line of purpose-built gaming headsets like the LCD-GX and Mobius. Both these headsets have garnered favorable reviews for their innovative audio performance and head-tracking function.

Gamers can use Maxwell to connect and game anywhere without limitations. The headset has ultra-low-latency with high-resolution audio up to 24-bit 96kHz when used with Maxwell’s USB dongle. Low-latency wireless range and stability are improved by a factor of three over the award-winning Audeze Penrose headset.

Maxwell has many wired and wireless options, including the latest Bluetooth 5.3 LE Audio technology, supporting the LC3 and LC3plus audio codecs. In addition, Maxwell supports classic Bluetooth codecs like SBC, AAC and LDAC for high-quality portable audio listening. The headset can also handle lossless high-resolution audio up to 24-bit 96kHz with a wired USB connection.

Audeze has used its proprietary lag-free AI-powered noise filtration in the Maxwell headset for clear communications in any environment. The company claims that the hardware-based AI system automatically eliminates background noise at the touch of a button, with no additional software or setup necessary. Friends and teammates can hear chat and callouts thanks to five built-in and beamforming microphones and a detachable boom mic designed by Shure.

Maxwell’s studio-quality sound and powerful dynamics are due to the latest planar magnetic drivers. Made by Audeze, in California, the 90mm planar magnetic drivers have three times the surface area of their closest competitor headset, delivering extra sonic detail and impact. The Maxwell chassis features a spring-steel headband with an adjustable suspension strap for comfortable gaming sessions. The earcups have a reinforced dual-chamber design for good passive noise isolation.

Combining the best of both worlds for use with PCs and consoles, the Maxwell headset supports features like Game-Chat mix, advanced gaming presets, plus personalized multi-band EQ. Maxwell also comes with the Audeze HQ gaming app that gives users access to a wide range of customizable features.

Pricing & Availability: Audeze Maxwell for Playstation will retail for $299, while Maxwell for Xbox will sell for $349 and comes with a Dolby Atmos license. Both versions support Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch. The first shipments are expected towards the end of December.
